A couple of jobs over in Higham this week, and both are the kind of clearance people put off for ages — a garage that's filled up over the years, and a side passage that's quietly become a dumping ground. Here's the before and after of each. Real jobs, nothing staged.

Garage clearance — Higham

First in Higham was a lock-up garage that had become the place everything got put 'for now' — and 'for now' had turned into years. Packed front to back: bags of household stuff, old boxes, a couple of bins, tins of paint, bits of garden kit. The sort of thing that feels impossible to even start on. Emptied the whole thing, swept it out, and handed back a garage you could actually use again.

Side-passage clearance — Higham

Second was a side passage — that narrow strip down the side of the house that ends up holding everything without a home. This one had a bike, a stack of timber and old fence panels, a pile of paint tubs and a bin, all wedged in tight so you couldn't get past to the back garden. Cleared it back to a clean path in a morning.
