ThreeGardensThatHadGoneWildCutBackandCleared(Gravesend,September2026)

End of summer is when gardens get away from people. Three from the last few weeks around Gravesend — a front garden you couldn't see the house behind, brambles taking the alley between two garages, and a back garden lost under head-high weeds. Cut back, bagged, loaded, gone. Drag the handle on each one.

Gravesend — the satellite dish was the only clue there was a house behind it.

The plot

End of summer is when gardens get away from people. A couple of wet weeks, a hot spell, and the brambles have the fence, the path and half the front of the house. These three came in over the last few weeks around Gravesend and they're all the same kind of job — cut it all back, bag it, load it, sweep off. Drag the handle across each one and you'll see what a day's work looks like.

The front garden you couldn't see the house behind

This one had gone properly wild — one big mass of bramble and rose right across the front, up to the windows and spilling out over the pavement. Cut right back to the ground and everything taken away. The path, the front posts and the bay window are all back, and the neighbours can see out again. It'll want keeping on top of now, but that's a ten-minute job instead of a day.

Gravesend area · Brambles between garages

Brambles between the garages

A bank of bramble had grown up between two garages and over the panel fence at the back — the sort that takes the whole alley if you leave it another year. Cut, dragged out, loaded and gone, down to the concrete. The old garage door leaning inside the open garage stayed exactly where it was — that wasn't mine to take. Tell me what stays and it stays.

A back garden lost to weeds

Brambles on one side, dead dock and thistle head-high on the other, and the patio somewhere underneath. Hedge trimmer for the top, then down to the ground and everything out by hand through the side gate. Left it as bare soil with the slabs swept — ready for whatever they want to do with it next, turf, gravel or a shed.

Green garden waste sacks, a black bag, a plastic chair and a small gravel heap waiting by a front gate in Gravesend
Gravesend — cuttings bagged up by the gate, ready to go.

And the small stuff

Not every job's a jungle. This one was a couple of green sacks of cuttings, a plastic chair, a bit of a gravel heap and some branches by the front gate — bagged up and gone in one quick stop. If you've done the hard work yourself and just need it taken away, that's fine too. Send me a photo and I'll give you a price.

Garden got away from you? A day sorts it.

Garden waste has to go to the right place like anything else. I'm licensed with the Environment Agency — CBDU330845, you can check it on the register — so nothing I take ends up dumped in a lane somewhere. WhatsApp me a photo of the garden and I'll tell you what it'd cost and when I can do it. Same-day or next-day most weeks around Gravesend, Northfleet, Swanscombe and Meopham.
